Just a few announcements (see email for more):
- Reminder that turkey feathers and community pictures are due Monday, 11/16.
- Report cards are being mailed home at the end of this week! Please review them before conferences.
This week in Literacy we learned /g/, /o/, and /u/ in Jolly Phonics and Handwriting. We did journal writing on Monday about our weekends, and just about finished our Identity Books. We talked about something we do with our hands that is special or unique and them traced them. We also talked about how we grow and change. We read Are You My Mother? and talked about what the little bird's identity was, and related it to how he changed from the beginning and end of the book. The students drew what they will look like when they are 15 and 65.
Just wait until you see what they came up with :)

In math we continued to learn about comparing numbers. We played our CHOMP game with 12-sided dice. The students have gotten really good and being able to quickly identify which number is bigger, or if they are equal. We also practiced using the greater than and less than symbols, and went to the computer lab to play 2 different comparing math games! You can find them here if your child would like to play them at home: (Fuzz Bugs and Number Values Jr.)

In ALO this week, we read a book about how a little girl uses her imagination and inventor thinking to turn trash into something amazing. So, the students used their imagination and inventor thinking to create something out of all the recycled materials they brought in! Thanks so much for sending all of that in. They had so much fun working in teams to create something. Ask your child what they made!
During buddies this week, the students made a book together about Veteran's Day. We LOVE buddy time!
Henry's mom was our Mystery Reader on Friday and read us The Giving Tree!
This coming week we will learn about Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful and incorporate that into a lot of literacy and math activities. We are also going to start learning about our community and use those community pictures to make a book. I have a special surprise for the students in regards to our community project that I am going to share with them this week too :) It is going to be a fun week!
