In Literacy we learned /z/, /w/, and /ng/ in Jolly Phonics and Handwriting. We also dove into guided reading groups this week which has been GREAT! I got to read in very small groups of 1-3 students on their individual reading levels and it was so amazing to see far they have come since the beginning of the year. This will be part of our regular routine now, I am hoping to do guided reading centers at least 3 times a week. The other centers included sight word work, blending, writing, iPads, and some free exploration centers with Legos and puzzles.
In math we also did centers this week! The students did a memory game to match the number to it's 10 frame representation and a double 10 frame game where you roll a 20-sided dice and have to represent that number on the double 10 frame. The centers also included a unifix cube one where the students rolled a 10-sided dice, and had to add that many onto the rod of 10 unifix cubes and then determine the number it made (10+ 3 more unifix cubes makes 13). And lastly, recording their thinking on the iPads about how to make 11 with unifix cubes in the easiest way possible.
