We had such a great second week in Kindergarten!
A few announcements before we get into our week:
- Please make sure you are checking your student's home folder every day! There was a lot of notes and work sent home this week.
- Open House is going to be on Thursday, September 17 at 6:30. I am looking forward to seeing all of you!
- The PTO is having their Back to School Bash on Thursday, September 10! It is from 5:30-7:30 and all information can be found on the PTO website: - http://www.indiantrailpto.org/ITl/index.cfm
- If you have not sent in an art smock yet, please do so soon. They have been getting pretty messy in art class!
We started off our week with some "apple picking". We practiced our name recognition by picking apples around the room that had each student's name on it. We colored them and hung them up on our apple tree... you'll see it when you come to our room for Open House :)
After, we read 10 Apples Up On Top by Dr Seuss. We then practiced our math skills by counting on to get to 10 apples.

Tuesday was all about positive behavior! We learned about the difference between good choices and bad choices in the classroom. We talked about our school rules: Being safe, respectful, and responsible. We then practiced being safe in the hallway and everyone got their very first Tiger Stripe! This is the school-wide positive behavior program, you can ask your student all about it.
Then, we read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. The book focuses on saying and doing nice things for people to "fill their bucket". You can also ask your student about their invisible bucket and our classroom bucket! I am so proud of them for how they have been acting this week after reading this book! They have all been such good friends to each other and so polite in the classroom.

Wednesday started off with exploring some of our math manipulatives. We practiced making and drawing patterns.
We read a book about friendship and talked about how making good choices and filling someone's bucket is being a good friend. I LOVE seeing the friendships in the class develop! They play so nicely together on the playground.
Thursday we talked even more about good choices by reading David Goes to School by David Shannon. After, we went on a scavenger hunt around our school community to learn about the different important places (principal's office, library, nurse, and social worker to name a few). We then had fun making our own David faces! These were sent home on Thursday.
On Friday, we tried out the reading corner and spent some time reading together :)
It was a fun week!
Hope you all have a wonderful long holiday weekend!
