It was another awesome week in room 124.
A few announcements:
- Open House is this Thursday, September 17 from 5:30-8. More information can be found in the Trail Days posted on the Indian Trail website. I am looking forward to seeing you all there!
- We will start using Class Dojo this week! If you have downloaded the app and signed in, you will start seeing the positive behaviors going on in our classroom :)
- We will also start using iPads this week and next! If you have not sent in labeled headphones, please do so as soon as possible.
Now... on to our week!
Tuesday, we met our buddy class! This year we will be pairing up with Mrs. Knotek's 3rd grade class once a week to do various activities together. To start off with, the students are working together to make a "Buddy Book" about each other. Our class LOVED working with the 3rd graders! They have asked me every day since when they get to see their buddies again. Pictures of our activities to come.
Wednesday was all about the book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.
We then worked with our tables to make big crayons and drew pictures of all different things that are those colors.
We even wrote letters to the crayons to tell them we do not want them to quit! You will have to wait until Open House to see the final products :)
Friday, we did more work with The Day the Crayons Quit and worked with our table groups to sort crayons by color. We then worked as a whole class to graph our results. We talked about how to read a graph, what they are used for, and the most and least. We counted each color together and found the "winning crayon". The students then copied the graph onto their own sheets and did a great job counting and coloring on their own! Many of the students even practiced writing their own numbers.
See you all soon.
